Officials from the United States and China are set to hold discussions focusing on increasing transparency in the field of artificial intelligence. This meeting will take place during a summit in Washington this week.
On Sunday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in New York City. The meeting occurred ahead of the summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
According to Secretary Bessent, both countries are considering establishing a ‘notification mechanism.’ This mechanism would allow for monitoring national security incidents involving artificial intelligence.
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer also participated in the meeting with Vice Premier He. This dialogue sets the stage for further discussions at the upcoming summit.
