The international crime-fighting organization Interpol has issued a Red Notice for a Ukrainian woman, Anastasiia Berezovska. The 39-year-old is the main suspect in a bombing incident in Monaco. The bombing targeted a Ukrainian tycoon with alleged ties to Russia.

The charges against Berezovska include attempted murder, placing an explosive device in a public area with criminal intent, and criminal conspiracy. She has not been detained yet.

The explosion, which happened on Monday at an apartment building entrance, injured three people, believed to be a family. Reports suggest Ukrainian construction magnate Vadym Yermolaiev, who is among the injured, has allegedly renounced his Ukrainian citizenship and faced Ukrainian sanctions due to Russian connections. One victim remains in critical condition, and two bystanders received minor injuries.

Investigation Details

Authorities in Monaco are investigating whether Berezovska acted alone or had assistance. Deputy prosecutor Morgan Raymond noted the complexity of the bomb and its remote detonation implies possible aid from accomplices. French experts are analyzing the bomb’s remnants.

The incident has disturbed Monaco, known for attracting affluent visitors, royalty, and hosting the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Prince Albert II condemned the act, and all necessary resources have been deployed for public safety.

Search for Motive and Further Investigation

No motive has been disclosed. According to the Interpol notice, Berezovska has a possible snake tattoo on her right arm, dark hair, and speaks German. Initial observations mistook her for a male, but a re-evaluation of surveillance footage and a witness account corrected this to a woman in disguise.

Two men were detained temporarily during the investigation but later released. Records show a rented vehicle with German plates used by the suspect in Monaco. Tracing Berezovska’s escape path revealed her travels through several European countries back to her residence in Germany, where authorities are actively cooperating.

German police, with special forces, searched a rented apartment near Frankfurt tied to Berezovska. They also secured a vehicle related to her. Evidence found will assist Monaco’s investigation. However, Berezovska remains at large.

Context of International Tensions

This case is among various reported attacks amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict, including targeted actions against Russian figures. In late 2024, Ukraine’s security agency claimed responsibility for eliminating a Russian military protection leader. Recently, Western intelligence pointed out intensified Russian counteractions since the 2022 invasion.
