The future of LIV Golf is uncertain. Whether the circuit will exist beyond 2027 remains unclear. This uncertainty leaves LIV players questioning where they will play in the coming year. Jon Rahm, a prominent figure who has consistently won the individual title since joining in 2024, shares in this uncertainty.
Rahm is preparing to participate in several DP World Tour events soon. Before the Irish Open, he stated he has “no updates” on LIV’s future since the season ended in Indianapolis in August.
Funding troubles arose when the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) withdrew support after 2026. LIV CEO Scott O’Neil announced the acquisition of a new investor for “LIV 2.0”. Yet, bankruptcy rumors persist, adding to the circuit’s unstable future.

Despite Rahm’s response to a single LIV-related query during his press conference, BBC Sport probed further about his prospects.
“There’s a lot of things in place,” Rahm mentioned. “There’s a lot that could happen. It’s one of those things that with time, time’s going to tell.”
When asked about a possible return to the PGA Tour, Rahm offered no direct answer, saying, “I still have a contract with LIV 1.0 that I am more than willing to fulfill. Like I said, time will tell.” He remained non-committal about returning to the PGA Tour, stating, “We’ll see what happens.”

Rahm reportedly has a contract worth over nine figures. If LIV files for bankruptcy, it’s uncertain if he will receive full compensation. This financial ambiguity leaves Rahm, and other LIV players, in a waiting game concerning their professional commitments.
The formation and details of LIV 2.0 remain unclear, similar to any potential return path to the PGA Tour for players like Rahm. For now, players must continue to wait and watch developments unfold.
