Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville has expressed concern about the declining visible support for former President Donald Trump. A homeowner from rural Texas observed the scarcity of Trump flags and signs, questioning if this might indicate lower turnout and enthusiasm in the midterms. Carville agreed with the listener and backed the observation with personal experiences from southern Mississippi.

Reflecting on his recent trips to Walmart, Carville recounted past instances where people expressed their support for Trump openly, asking why he wasn’t behind the former president. He noted the absence of these encounters in recent times, along with the disappearance of Trump merchandise stands and flag-bearing pickup trucks.

Carville suggested that when anecdotes form a pattern, they could signify a cultural shift. He argued against the likelihood of people in rural Texas switching to the Democratic side but doubted that they would back Trump with the previous margins. He emphasized that these visible changes are worth noting as they could indicate a broader trend.

In the same podcast, Carville criticized Trump’s inner circle, labeling its members as ‘buffoons.’ He expressed frustration over continued support for Trump, despite understanding the rationale behind the 2024 election votes. For Carville, supporting Trump post-2024 is incomprehensible.
