Vincent Pastore: A Heartfelt Farewell

Years after “The Sopranos” ended, its stars gathered to bid a heartfelt farewell to Vincent Pastore. Pastore was laid to rest Thursday in New York, surrounded by family and friends. His “Sopranos” co-star Steven Van Zandt served as a pallbearer, carrying the late actor to his final resting place. An American flag draped Pastore’s casket, honoring his service in the Navy.

Pastore’s daughter remembered him as a generous person. “He was a man who lived out his dreams… but he knew how lucky he was,” she expressed during the emotional funeral as reported by Page Six. She explained his efforts to share his fortune with others, whether through a generous tip or a handshake with officers on the street.

Van Zandt shared his thoughts with the outlet, mentioning he was in touch with Pastore “quite often” before his passing. “We called him two days ago, miraculously, just before he died,” Van Zandt recalled, referring to himself and his wife Maureen. “He was one of a kind and we’ll miss him very much.”

Stephen Villano, Pastore’s long-time colleague, told the press that the actor was nothing like his on-screen character. Villano emphasized Pastore’s generosity and kindness, mentioning his support for charities and his involvement in community events.

Villano highlighted Pastore’s contributions to veterans, U.S. troops, and the police department, stating: “He supported St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and always backed the NYPD, especially during their Christmas parties.”

Pastore died on August 1. “Vinny passed away either yesterday or today at home in The Bronx,” his manager, Robert Attermann, announced. Attermann had the privilege of representing Pastore for over 30 years, stating, “To the world, he will always be remembered as the unforgettable ‘Big Pussy,’ but to those of us who knew him, he was so much more.” Vincent Pastore is survived by his daughter Renee.

Beyond “The Sopranos,” Vincent Pastore appeared in shows like “Blue Bloods,” “Law & Order,” and “Yellowjackets,” showcasing his versatile talent. He featured in films such as “Goodfellas,” “A Bronx Tale,” and “Mickey Blue Eyes.”

Attermann expressed that Pastore loved being an actor and was passionate about his craft. He was known for his encouragement and generosity toward young actors, offering guidance and support at every opportunity.
