Vincent Pastore, Renowned Actor, Passes Away at 80

Vincent Pastore, famed for his role in ‘The Sopranos,’ has passed away at the age of 80, as confirmed by his manager to CBS News. Pastore, recognized widely for his portrayal of ‘Big Pussy’ Bonpensiero, died in his Bronx residence on a Saturday afternoon without any criminal circumstances, according to authorities.

His manager, Robert Attermann, stated, “I had the privilege of representing Vinny for more than 30 years. To the world, he will always be remembered as the unforgettable ‘Big Pussy,’ but to those of us who knew him, he was so much more.”

Pastore’s character in ‘The Sopranos’ met a dramatic end in the second season, yet he made return appearances in later seasons. His contributions to the series helped the ensemble win the Screen Actors Guild Award in 2000, with a follow-up nomination the subsequent year.

Born in the Bronx on July 14, 1946, Pastore served in the Vietnam War before earning a drama degree from Pace University. Before gaining fame on television, he had roles in significant films like ‘Goodfellas,’ ‘Carlito’s Way,’ and ‘Men of Respect.’ He also featured in ‘The Jerky Boys: The Movie’ and ‘Gotti.’

Beyond the big screen, Pastore graced numerous TV productions, including ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ ‘Law & Order,’ ‘Blue Bloods,’ and ‘General Hospital.’ Lately, he appeared in the series ‘Gravesend’ in 2022 and guest-starred on ‘Yellowjackets’ in 2025.
