The weekend delivered plenty of excitement, and there’s still more to come. Yesterday proved a challenge with 86-degree temperatures and a non-functioning air conditioning unit. Facing another night with just a couple of fans wasn’t ideal. However, hope lies in the promise of cool air by the end of today. Even better, it’s the first Sunday of the NFL season.
The anticipation builds amidst the shock of losses for Oregon and Ohio State, a perfect backdrop for the first full lineup of NFL games.
Paige Spiranac and the Golf Course Chat
Before diving into college football scores, let’s hit the golf course. Influencer Paige Spiranac discussed dating with comedian Andrew Santino on her YouTube series “Paige Meets Her Match.” When asked at the Celebrity Invitational who she would invite back to her cabin, Paige gave a candid reply.
“Sarah Winter … she’s the best looking one there,” she stated, adding some fun to the serious game of golf.
The chat ventured into her college experiences, with Spiranac admitting to having “dabbled” with women but never dated one.
College Football Upsets
Now, let’s focus on college football. Oklahoma State achieved a remarkable upset against the No. 6 Oregon Ducks. After suffering a 69-3 loss last year in Eugene, they ensured different results on their home ground in Stillwater.
Oregon will face new challenges next week when they go against Portland State. The question remains if they can overcome the upset and perform against a lower-ranked team.
Ohio State’s ranking dropped as they faced a shocking one-point setback against Texas. Losing after leading by twenty points in the fourth quarter raises questions about their focus. Their next game at home against Kent State will be crucial.
Michigan tamed the No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners, marking their first victory. With UTEP up next week, Michigan seeks to maintain momentum.
Tales from the Grill
Reader Gen X Warren M. shared his experiences over the Labor Day weekend. A visit to his in-laws featured an afternoon by the pool, cold beers, and the responsibility of grilling burgers after his father-in-law got carried away with Old Fashioneds. Despite this, the burgers turned out great.
Warren remains hopeful for his team, the FAU Owls, as they face a long season ahead.
The stage is set for another memorable Sunday of NFL games. As temperatures rise into the upper 80s and low 90s, many await the cooler air from new air conditioning units.
