Whoopi Goldberg Supports Trump and Mamdani’s Knicks Attendance

3 weeks ago 0

Whoopi Goldberg defended President Donald Trump and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on “The View” by saying both men deserved a spot at Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals. She noted their longstanding support for the Knicks as the basis for her opinion.

Goldberg challenged objections from fans, stressing that Trump and Mamdani have always been Knicks fans and residents of New York City. She argued their presence does not influence the team’s performance.

I think anybody who’s a Knicks fan should be there. You earned the right as a Knicks fan. I don’t have to like you.

The show played clips of fans voicing concerns about the two politicians attending the game. One fan emphatically expressed a desire for both to stay away from the arena.

Goldberg dismissed the notion of their presence impacting the Knicks’ success, stating, “I don’t think anything can jinx anything. I think these guys are on a mission.” The game took place as the Knicks returned home with a 2-0 lead in the Finals.

During the show, a clip aired of Trump mentioning the invite from Knicks owner James Dolan. Trump shared his appreciation for Dolan and confirmed his attendance at the game.

I’ve been a Knicks fan for a long time and also a Jim Dolan fan. He’s a nice guy. The answer is, yes, he’s invited me, and I’m going.

This potential visit raised mixed reactions among fans, some concerned about possible disruptions due to the high-profile nature of the event. Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out Trump’s potential blame if the team lost, while Sunny Hostin humorously referenced “the jinx.” Hostin argued against Trump’s attendance due to “bad juju.”

Amid these debates, Goldberg remained focused on supporting the team. She encouraged fans to channel positive energy toward the Knicks to aid their performance.

All we need to concentrate on is putting our energy and good energy towards them, towards the Knicks. That’s what this is about.

Trump planned to attend as a guest of Dolan, while Mamdani was expected to attend separately. Heightened security concerns led officials to cancel a public watch party near the arena and implement additional screening protocols for attendees.
