Will Ospreay’s Historic Victory at Wembley

Will Ospreay entered Wembley Stadium, confronting both memories and competitors. As he prepared to make his way down the ramp, he greeted fellow wrestlers like Zack Sabre Jr., Ricochet, and Swerve Strickland with nods of acknowledgment. Before heading out, he shared a good-luck kiss with his wife, Alex Windsor, and was given a Union Jack by Jon Moxley. This moment marked his preparation for the significant challenge ahead.

Ospreay faced Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship at All In, with the support of his home country. The encounter was on the biggest stage of the year and marked the peak of Ospreay’s career as it rekindled their past encounters in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

The match unfolded with Omega trying to secure an early victory. He struck Ospreay with a TV monitor and powerbombed him through a table. Ospreay endured, retaliating with a brutal Hidden Blade that left Omega open to counterattacks.

Neither wrestler considered surrender. Even when a referee count threatened Omega, he resisted stopping. Ospreay launched another Hidden Blade and even executed a Styles Clash, yet victory eluded him both times.

Exchanging powerful blows, Omega delivered a V Trigger and a Tiger Driver ’91. A second V Trigger led to an attempt at his One-Winged Angel, but despite landing it cleanly, Ospreay managed to kick out.

The AEW World Championship was of immense importance to both competitors. Omega attempted another V Trigger, but he couldn’t keep Ospreay down. Ospreay countered by hitting his own Tiger Driver on Omega, energizing the already exhilarated crowd.

The combatants, exhausted and battered, rose to continue the fight. Ospreay attempted to capitalize with a Stormbreaker but achieved only a one count. He then unleashed one final Hidden Blade through a veil of blood, achieving a pin on Omega to secure the victory.

This win resonated deeply with Ospreay as he became the first Englishman to clinch a world championship on home soil. His reign as AEW World Champion began with this remarkable achievement.
