Chicago Sky’s guard, DiJonai Carrington, recently sparked controversy by publicly accusing her ex-girlfriend, NaLyssa Smith, a forward for the Las Vegas Aces, of infidelity. Carrington made these claims on the social media platform Threads.
Previously, Carrington has been in the headlines for various reasons, such as her incident with Caitlin Clark, her outspoken views against former President Donald Trump, and a postgame altercation with a columnist. However, this time she focuses on Smith, with whom she shared a long-term relationship beginning during their college years at Baylor.
In her post, Carrington alleged, “Since mfs wanna be funny today ima be hilarious! yes, nalyssa cheated on me with Deja Kelly and Aaliyah Nye +++ many more.” This statement referred to Las Vegas Aces players Deja Kelly and Aaliyah Nye, suggesting a history of infidelity that contrasts sharply with their previous public image as a couple.
The relationship between Carrington and Smith began at Baylor, continuing after both entered the WNBA. They played together again on the Dallas Wings in 2025, but later that year, Smith was traded to the Las Vegas Aces. When announcing their separation, Carrington previously mentioned that they had “grew in different directions.” This recent revelation presents a different narrative, although Smith, Kelly, and Nye have not responded publicly to these allegations.
Fans will anticipate seeing Carrington face off against Smith and Kelly on August 1 when the Sky play the Aces. A later game on September 19 will see Carrington come up against Nye and the Dream.
