WWE Clash Heats Up With Night of Champions Match Announcements

1 week ago 0

Cody Rhodes, the undisputed WWE champion, asked SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis for a match at Night of Champions. He will face Gunther and Sami Zayn. This move aims to settle disputes with these challengers after previous events left tensions high.

On “Friday Night SmackDown,” chaos unfolded with a match officiated by Zayn. He served as the guest referee for Gunther’s championship match against Rhodes. Despite declaring impartiality, Zayn intervened when Gunther tried to pin Rhodes, helping Rhodes retain his title.

Tensions escalated when Zayn and Aldis argued backstage. Gunther demanded another match after attacking Zayn. Rhodes also called for a rematch. The encounter led Zayn to hit Gunther with the title belt, causing a disqualification. Zayn accidentally struck Rhodes as well, further complicating the situation.

Though Aldis was unhappy with Zayn’s actions, Zayn defended his impartiality, pointing out Aldis’s decision to appoint him as referee. In the end, this conflict resulted in the setup for Rhodes’s triple-threat match at Night of Champions.

In another significant development, Jey Uso clashed with Je’Von Evans for a spot in the King of the Ring finals. Uso, a seasoned champion, faced Evans, an eager rookie. Uso secured the victory without interference, advancing to face Oba Femi at Night of Champions.

The Queen of the Ring semifinals saw Liv Morgan take on Charlotte Flair. Before the match, Jade Cargill and her allies attacked Flair’s injured knee, giving Morgan an upper hand. Morgan’s relentless focus on Flair’s knee led her to victory via a half-Boston crab submission.

Morgan’s victory set her up for a Queen of the Ring final against Iyo Sky, with potential contention for the WWE Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley. Morgan, already the women’s world champion, stands closer to another title shot.
