Zelenskyy Discusses Ukraine’s Military Advances Amid War with Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin has lost the initiative in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. In a recent interview, Zelenskyy highlighted the transformative impact of Ukraine’s military technology on the battlefield.

During an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Zelenskyy paid tribute to the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and recognized Graham’s unwavering support for Ukraine. Zelenskyy discussed the evolving nature of the war and the potential for peace negotiations.

“Since the beginning of the war, Putin claimed he would occupy Ukraine within days,” Zelenskyy stated. “Now, we have developed a robust military technology industry comprising 500 companies equipped with advanced technologies.”

The Ukrainian president described the conflict as a race for innovation. As weapons, such as drones, quickly become outdated, adapting strategies is essential.

The dynamic of the war changes every few months, according to Zelenskyy, necessitating technological advancements for Ukraine to stay ahead of Russia’s larger population.

Ukraine’s ability to target military sites deep within Russia marks a turning point. Recent attacks disrupted the power grid in Russian-occupied Crimea, showcasing Ukraine’s enhanced military reach.

“Putin is losing 30,000 soldiers monthly,” Zelenskyy revealed, noting significant losses yet Moscow’s reluctance to halt the war. He emphasized that the initiative now lies outside Putin’s control.

Ukraine seeks a ceasefire to ultimately achieve a peaceful resolution, although attempts at dialogue with Putin have stagnated since 2020.

“We ask to stop the war daily,” Zelenskyy noted. “We aim for a ceasefire to facilitate diplomatic negotiations, but Putin is unwilling.”

Moreover, much of the discussion centered on Graham, a staunch advocate for Ukraine from the onset of the Russian invasion. Zelenskyy mentioned Graham had visited Ukraine multiple times, even venturing near conflict zones.

“Lindsey Graham had unwavering faith in Ukraine’s resilience against Russian occupation,” Zelenskyy said.

Further, Zelenskyy praised The Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, which has gained Senate approval with an 86–12 vote and will move onto the House. The act aims to enforce sanctions on entities backing Russia’s operations against Ukraine.

Earlier discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump centered around enhancing defense cooperation. Zelenskyy disclosed that Trump agreed to allow Ukraine to manufacture American-designed Patriot missiles domestically.

Following the meeting, Trump shared on social media that the discussions were productive.
