Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant commented on the New York Knicks’ Game 3 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, which stirred reactions among fans. A portion of Knicks fans appeared to blame President Donald Trump for the team’s defeat. The Spurs triumphed with a 115-111 victory, amid a lively crowd at Madison Square Garden, which included Trump.
The Knicks experienced 13 turnovers during the game and had a field goal percentage of 45%. In contrast, the Spurs shot 46% and committed only eight turnovers. Despite these statistics, some fans pointed fingers at Trump’s presence rather than the team’s performance.
“That’s what you Knicks fans get for hating on President Trump!” Bryant wrote on social media.
Trump’s appearance at Madison Square Garden drew significant attention, different from his earlier reception at the college football championship in Florida. Bryant addressed criticisms from those labeling him a Trump supporter, defending his neutral stance.
“Whatever personal problem you got with Trump… IDGAF!” he replied to critics.
Knicks head coach Mike Brown expressed his concerns over the foul disparity in the game. The Spurs had 32 free-throw attempts compared to the Knicks’ 22. Brown highlighted this issue while acknowledging the Spurs’ well-earned victory.
“I never thought I would be in the NBA Finals and see a team get 24 free throw attempts in the second half to another team’s eight,” Brown stated.
