3 weeks ago 0

A father from Texas is sharing his grief after his 17-year-old son was fatally stabbed during a high school track meet. The incident has left Jeff Metcalf feeling his life is shattered.

Austin Metcalf, a junior at Memorial High School in Frisco, was allegedly stabbed in the chest by another 17-year-old, Karmelo Anthony, during a seating quarrel as teams waited for a delayed competition.

“My son is gone, and he’ll never come home again,” Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, expressed on “America Reports.” He described Austin as “the light of my life.”

“Austin died in the arms of his twin brother, Hunter, who tried desperately to stop the bleeding but couldn’t save him. They shared a very close bond,” Jeff Metcalf revealed.

The Metcalf family is grieving while urging the public to avoid speculating about racial or political motives behind the stabbing.

“This was not a race thing nor a political thing,” Jeff Metcalf said. “Do not politicize this. It’s a human tragedy. A bad choice has devastated both families.”

Austin was known as an honor student, athlete, and compassionate young man, aspiring to play college football. His social media noted a 3.97 GPA and attendance in multiple football camps.

“He lit up the room everywhere he went,” his father mentioned.

His family’s church held a vigil for Austin, drawing hundreds in remembrance. Jeff Metcalf credits his faith for helping him cope.

“I rely heavily on my faith to navigate this,” he said. “Even amid grief, I have chosen forgiveness.”

The weekend before the tragedy, Jeff and his sons enjoyed hunting together. This would be their last outing.

Recalling their final exchange, Jeff Metcalf shared, “Austin told me he’d help mow my grass because of my injured arm. ‘I love you, Dad,’ he said. ‘I love you too, son,’ I replied; those were the last words I ever heard from him.”

The accused, a student-athlete from Frisco Centennial High School, now faces a murder charge.
