Tyler Adams and the United States men’s national soccer team are based at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, California. They are gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, aiming to achieve the extraordinary on the global stage. As they prepare, Adams draws inspiration from the New York Knicks’ stunning victory in the 2026 NBA Finals.
The New York Knicks faced the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night. The Knicks appeared defeated, trailing by 27 points at halftime. They were behind by as many as 29 points during the game. However, reminiscent of their comeback in the Eastern Conference Finals against Cleveland, the Knicks steadily fought back.
In a dramatic turn, Knicks All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson attempted a 3-pointer with four seconds left on the clock. Although his shot failed, OG Anunoby grabbed the rebound and scored the decisive tip-in with just 1.2 seconds remaining. This incredible 107-106 victory marked the largest comeback in NBA Finals history, putting the Knicks ahead 3-1 in the series. They now edge closer to their first championship since 1973.
Tyler Adams, celebrating the historic win, couldn’t contain his excitement. Adams, a New York native, began his soccer career in the New York Red Bulls academy. Before moving to Bournemouth in the English Premier League in August 2023, he played for RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga. Born on February 14, 1999, Adams recalls the last time the Knicks reached the Finals, where they lost to the Spurs over five games in 1999. Now, 27 years on, the Knicks could defeat the Spurs in five games this Saturday.
The USMNT will kick off their World Cup campaign against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Friday night.
