Jo Frost, the global parenting expert known as ‘Supernanny,’ has raised concerns about modern parenting trends. She argues that many parents are inadvertently hindering their children’s development by prioritizing convenience over teaching life skills.
In her public appearances and online posts, Frost emphasizes the importance of fostering resilience and independence in children. She highlights a worrying pattern where children are too dependent on their parents, lacking necessary life skills.
“We’re keeping children in strollers who should be walking, climbing, and building strength,” Frost said in a viral Instagram video. “We’ve got four-year-olds using dummies and seven-year-olds unable to brush teeth without an electric toothbrush.”
During an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Frost shared that many parents contact her about their children’s struggles with basic skills. She insists that allowing children to experience some challenges is essential for growth.
Frost advises against parents relying on quick solutions, urging them to focus on long-term goals. She recommends involving children in family activities and teaching them skills like personal hygiene, table manners, and domestic chores.
“I understand modern life is busy, but this isn’t about time; it’s about intention,” Frost stated. She stresses that stepping in for children removes their chance to learn and grow independently.
