Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was recently involved in a hit-and-run incident in California. Authorities stated that the event occurred in Yountville, a town within the wine country, and left a parked car with significant damage. Pelosi may face misdemeanor charges as a result.
On Friday, Pelosi was driving his brown convertible when he struck a legally parked car. He initially stopped but then drove away, as reported by the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. No injuries were recorded. A witness reported the collision to 911, prompting deputies to locate Pelosi nearby with damage to the front of his vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, Pelosi, 86, did not have alcohol in his system at the time of the incident. He mentioned to officers that he was aware of hitting something but was unsure of the details. The sheriff’s office recommended a misdemeanor charge for fleeing the accident scene, since no injuries occurred. Officials referred him to the Department of Motor Vehicles for evaluation, a standard procedure for elderly drivers.
Pelosi was not arrested. His previous legal issues include a 2022 guilty plea to driving under the influence charges in Napa County, resulting in a five-day jail sentence and three years of probation. He served two days in jail, received good conduct credits, and completed his sentence with a work program. Part of his probation required him to complete a three-month drinking driver course and install an ignition interlock device in his vehicle.
Earlier that same year, Pelosi faced a violent attack, suffering severe injuries from a hammer assault at their San Francisco residence. Regarding the recent incident, a representative for Nancy Pelosi did not immediately provide comments.
