“Outnumbered” discussed Senator Lindsey Graham’s death at 71 from aortic dissection and President Donald Trump’s support for Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to take his Senate seat.

Lindsey Graham’s passing has left a void in Washington. His sister, Darline Graham Nordone, is being considered to replace him in the Senate. President Trump and Senator Tim Scott both advocate for her appointment.

Trump is urging South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster to appoint Nordone. Trump praised her on Truth Social, calling her a “wonderful sister” and suggesting this move would honor Graham.

Governor McMaster is expected to announce his decision at a news conference. If appointed, Darline Nordone would serve temporarily. Behind the scenes, political maneuvering is already underway as candidates vie for the GOP nomination.

Potential candidates have until July 21 to file for the upcoming Senate term, with a special election on August 11. The Senate seat is a unique opportunity for South Carolina politicians.

Darline Graham Nordone has not held public office. She is a mother of two and has worked in vocational rehabilitation, assisting disabled individuals in South Carolina.

Following Trump’s suggestion, Nordone expressed being emotionally overwhelmed, stating, “I’m just kind of like devastated right now,” to the New York Post.

Graham and Nordone shared a profound bond. After their parents died, Graham became her legal guardian, acting as both brother and father. Throughout her upbringing, Graham provided support, highlighting her achievements as his greatest accomplishment.

Graham’s influence extended to Nordone’s education, enabling her access to military benefits and supporting her through school. She often appeared in his political campaigns, praising his caregiving role.

“He never let me down,” Nordone said in a campaign video. She recounted his help with homework and illness and his teaching her to ride a bike. “To take on that responsibility of raising a little sister — that came from within for Lindsey.”
