This event attracted attention as Ramaswamy, a Republican who previously ran for the presidency in 2024, competes against Democrat Amy Acton in a hotly contested 2026 midterm election race.

Ramaswamy’s support for President Donald Trump has resulted in some disagreements with sections of the political right. Videos on social media revealed Ramaswamy being booed upon entering the stage and facing heckles about Israel and immigration during his remarks.
