Andrus Peat Announces Retirement After 11 Seasons in the NFL

Former Pro Bowl offensive lineman Andrus Peat has announced his retirement from professional football. On Friday, Peat shared his decision through a post on social media. He expressed gratitude for his career and the lessons he learned.

Peat, 32, spent 11 years in the NFL, starting with the New Orleans Saints. Drafted 13th overall in 2015 from Stanford, Peat was a key player for the Saints. He was primarily a starting left guard and contributed significantly to the team’s success.

“11 years in the league, I gave it everything I had,” Peat stated in his Instagram post. “I may be walking away from football, but not from the lessons it taught me. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and especially my brothers in the trenches. I’m grateful beyond words that I was able to live out this dream.”

During his time with the Saints, Peat made the Pro Bowl for three consecutive years, from 2018 to 2020. His presence on the offensive line helped the Saints win four straight NFC South titles between 2017 and 2020.

After the 2023 season, Peat moved to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he played in 15 games and started in one. He concluded his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, appearing in six games and starting three as a backup.

In response to his post, Peat’s wife, Ashley, shared a heartfelt message. “We are SO proud of you baby!!!! Thank you for everything you sacrificed and worked so hard to provide for us all these years. Can’t wait to enjoy this next chapter with you,” she wrote.

Peat looks forward to spending more time with his family. “On to the next chapter with my wife and sons. All glory to God!” he added.
