Intense Matches at GCW Homecoming Night in Atlantic City

Joseph Sawyer returned to Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) with triumph. Competing back in his home state at the Showboat Resort in Atlantic City, Sawyer clinched the GCW World Championship. His victory over Atticus Cogar at Homecoming Night 1 was memorable.

Previously known as Joe Gacy, Sawyer’s comeback marked his first GCW match since 2020. He was once known as Psycho Joe. The match against Cogar was fierce, featuring harsh chair shots and attempts to send Cogar through a prepared door in the ring’s corner.

The event also paid tribute to Bray Wyatt. Cogar entered with music honoring the late WWE star. Cogar’s attire included a jacket and mask reminiscent of Wyatt.

Sawyer sealed his victory with a Sister Abigail DDT, igniting cheers from the packed audience. Fans celebrated by drumming on the ring apron as Sawyer reveled in his win.

Violence was abundant throughout the night. Instruments like light tubes, chains, scaffolds, chairs, and a barbed wire table played parts in the fierce contests.

Otis Cogar retained the GCW Ultraviolent Championship against Anakin Murphy. Murphy embraced the New Jersey crowd, wearing an outfit inspired by Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance.

Murphy sought to defeat Cogar, even utilizing a Buffalo Bills helmet from a fan as a weapon. Yet, Cogar remained steadfast. After delivering a final chair shot, he retained his title, though discovering a future challenger awaited.

Vipress and Christian Napier engaged in a daunting Chola Chain Match. Bound by a chain at their wrists, tension was evident. Vipress soon overpowered Napier, especially when she secured him in the ropes and smashed light tubes over his head.

“F—ing end it,” Murphy implored Cogar during their bout, underscoring the night’s intensity.

Bloodied but undeterred, Vipress wrapped the chain around Napier’s face to claim her victory and issued a challenge for the Ultraviolent Championship.

A dramatic moment unfolded as Nick Gage, Nino Extremo, and Sicko The Clown faced Conor Claxton, Dr. Redacted, and Jimmy Lloyd in a six-man deathmatch.

Claxton’s attempt to secure victory led him atop a scaffold with Sicko The Clown. In a turn, Sicko gained control, executing a Spanish fly move through light tubes. Claxton, bleeding heavily, was rushed to the hospital but was reportedly okay.

Elsewhere, KJ Orso and Sam Stackhouse triumphed over Alec Price and Jordan Oliver to capture the GCW Tag Team Championship. Meanwhile, Bobby Flaco, Hunter Drake, Jay Lucas, and Terry Yaki defeated Leedz Lewis, Ryan O’Neill, Sal Mistretta, and Tarzan Duran in an eight-man tag match.

Joey Janela, with O’Neill’s aid, overcame Marko Stunt, prolonging his wrestling career. Bear Bronson and Gabby Forza also defeated Charles Mason and Slade.

GCW Homecoming Night 2 is scheduled for Sunday at the Showboat. Fans can view the event on Triller TV+.
