The Cincinnati Bengals signed defensive back Ceyair Wright as an undrafted free agent in April. Wright came from a college football background at Nebraska. However, his passion for football intersected with another career path—acting. The Bengals announced that Wright left the team “to pursue other opportunities” and was placed on the Exempt/Left Squad.
Dan Hoard, who serves as the radio voice of the Bengals, shared that Wright decided to seek television and film opportunities. Head coach Zac Taylor commented on Wright’s decision.
“I don’t know how to properly define it for him. He called us last night and let us know that he had an opportunity,” Taylor said. “I know it was a difficult decision for him. I think two things he’s really passionate about were colliding and he decided to pursue this opportunity. So, he’s a great kid, comes from a great university.”
Taylor acknowledged Wright’s aspirations and expressed his well-wishes for his future.
Ceyair Wright, while known for his contributions on the field, also has an acting portfolio. He performed as LeBron James’ son in “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” IMDb notes his role in “Training Day” and appearances in sitcoms such as “Grown-ish” and “2 Broke Girls.”
Following Wright’s departure, the Bengals signed Matthew McDoom to fill the vacant position. Wright’s decision marks a significant shift, as he moves toward a career in entertainment.
