Actor Hayden Panettiere has passed away at the age of 36, as her father confirmed in a statement on Sunday night. Skip Panettiere expressed deep sadness over the loss, referring to his daughter as “beloved.” The cause and manner of her death remain unknown, but her publicist, Kasey Kitchen, indicated that an investigation is underway, and more details are expected soon.
Earlier this year, Panettiere openly discussed her struggles with postpartum depression and addiction. These challenges contributed to her decision in 2018 to relinquish custody of her daughter, Kaya Evdokia Klitschko, whom she shares with former partner Wladimir Klitschko, a Ukrainian professional boxer.
Panettiere recently made headlines through her memoir titled “This Is Me: A Reckoning.” The book reveals personal details about her life, including insights into past relationships. In 2024, she shared her feelings of pain and grief over the unexpected death of her younger brother, actor Jansen Panettiere, due to an undiagnosed heart condition in the previous year. Speaking on NBC’s “TODAY” show, she described the impact of losing someone who was always present during significant life moments.
Born and raised in Palisades, New York, Hayden Panettiere began her career early. According to her Television Academy biography, she started working at just 11 months old, appearing in television commercials. By age four, she had roles in soap operas such as “One Life to Live” and “Guiding Light.” Her voice work included a part in the animated film “A Bug’s Life,” and she moved on to more substantial roles in films like “Remember the Titans” and “Bring It On: All or Nothing.”
One of her most notable roles was portraying Juliette Barnes on the TV series “Nashville.” Prior to this, audiences knew her as Claire Bennet from “Heroes” in the 2000s. During her time on “Nashville,” Panettiere faced the pressure of motherhood and struggled with postpartum depression, which she admitted was a significant challenge.
