Five Americans lost their lives in a helicopter crash in northern Kenya on Wednesday, as confirmed by the U.S. State Department. The tragic incident occurred in a mountainous area near Kirish in Samburu County. According to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, the accident happened around 9 a.m. with seven individuals on board.
Among the deceased was José Suárez, a Telemundo executive who managed several stations in Florida. NBCUniversal News Group Chairman Cesar Conde identified Suárez in a communication to employees, NBC News reported.

Lady Lori Helicopters, the company that operated the helicopter, expressed profound sorrow over the incident. They offered condolences to the families and friends affected by the accident.
The helicopter involved was on a private charter flight departing from Suyian Conservancy, a 44,000-acre wildlife refuge, heading toward Ololokwe. The crash occurred near Mount Ololokwe. It was reported that the aircraft was a Eurocopter EC130 B4, registered as 5Y-GYM.
The U.S. Embassy is collaborating with local authorities and offering necessary consular support. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
