Trump’s Controversial Projects: Kennedy Center and White House Ballroom

3 hours ago 0

By August 20, 2026, plans for President Trump’s developments at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts and the construction of the White House ballroom are advancing, though both face legal challenges.

The Kennedy Center

Recent court filings reveal significant updates for the Kennedy Center. The art center’s board of trustees, dominated by President Trump’s allies, voted to restore Trump’s name on the building’s facade. This decision follows a court ruling that previously removed the name. The Center remains covered with a tarp since the removal in June, with scaffolding in place due to structural repairs and potential marble damage.

The board also approved renaming the Center’s physical site as “President Donald J. Trump Plaza” and plans to inscribe: “The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts Restored and Renovated by President Donald J. Trump” once a dedicated fund reaches $100 million.

The White House Ballroom

The White House ballroom project, a major focus for President Trump, has faced legal interruptions. A temporary halt from a federal judge challenges the construction due to the lack of Congressional authorization. Despite this, construction has continued under administrative stays. The Justice Department seeks Supreme Court intervention to maintain construction activities.

Funded by private donors, the ballroom’s budget has reached $355 million out of a $400 million target. Oversight by Joshua Fisher indicates 65% completion with extensive materials used, including millions of pounds of steel and concrete, described as nearly indestructible. The ballroom is planned to include advanced security features and will house facilities like bomb shelters and top-secret military installations.

Progress is noted in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations, with projections of significant additional work by the end of the week.
