A woman armed with knives attacked two people in Times Square on Monday afternoon, leading to a police shooting, according to authorities. The incident occurred near West 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue shortly before 4:30 p.m.
The suspect, identified as emotionally disturbed, stabbed a man and a woman, as confirmed by police to Fox 5 New York. After stabbing the victims, she moved northward toward an NYPD substation while holding two knives.
The police attempted to use a Taser to stop her, but she continued to approach them. Officers then fired at the woman, striking her. The stabbing victims and the suspect were taken to hospitals, though their current conditions are not known.
