A woman armed with knives attacked two people in Times Square on Monday afternoon, leading to a police shooting, according to authorities. The incident occurred near West 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue shortly before 4:30 p.m.
The suspect, identified as emotionally disturbed, stabbed a man and a woman, as confirmed by police to Fox 5 New York. After stabbing the victims, she moved northward toward an NYPD substation while holding two knives.
The police attempted to use a Taser to stop her, but she continued to approach them. Officers then fired at the woman, striking her. The stabbing victims and the suspect were taken to hospitals, though their current conditions are not known.
Authorities advised the public to steer clear of West 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue due to ongoing investigations, causing potential delays in the area. The incident is not considered terror-related. It remains unclear if any officers were injured during the confrontation.
Police plan to hold a news conference later on Monday to provide further details. Stepheny Price, a writer for Fox News, reports on various topics, including crime stories, missing persons, and border security.
