Vice President JD Vance’s remark about “childless cat ladies” gained attention during Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign. This comment came up again when Taylor Swift referenced it while endorsing Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
Interestingly, Beverly Vance, JD Vance’s mother, wasn’t aware of Swift’s mention of her son until someone explained it to her. She shared, “I had no idea that’s what she was even doing. Until you just said that, I didn’t even put the two together,” during an appearance on OutKick’s show “Tomi Lahren is Fearless.”
Back in 2021, JD Vance appeared on Fox News with Tucker Carlson. At that time, the Senate candidate stated that Democrats were “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.” His mother Beverly explained that her son’s comment was meant as a joke, highlighting his sense of humor.
“I just thought it was funny,” Beverly said. “JD’s just got a sense of humor and you know he was making a joke and obviously people didn’t take it as a joke, but you know, I know JD and he just meant it as a joke.”
The vice president acknowledged the comment was a mistake, mentioning it in his book. Taylor Swift, in her post supporting Harris and Walz, shared a photo with a cat.
Tomi Lahren brought up that Swift’s husband, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, shares an Ohio background with the Vances. Beverly noted that Kelce played college football at the University of Cincinnati.
