Since his trade from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has rapidly become one of the NBA’s standout talents. By the age of 28, he has amassed achievements that surpass those of many whole careers.
Gilgeous-Alexander boasts four All-Star selections, four first-team All-Pro honors, and two league MVP awards. He pushed the Thunder to its first NBA title in 2025, claiming the Finals MVP as well. His prowess was evident when the Thunder competed fiercely against the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals, narrowly missing a Finals battle against the New York Knicks.
In a recent interview with Time’s Sean Gregory, Gilgeous-Alexander expressed confidence in his standing in the league. I think I’m the best player in the NBA,
he asserted. My nightly performance and efficiency are unmatched.
Highlighting his capacity to win and lead, he reflected on his recent accomplishments.
One notable achievement involved breaking Wilt Chamberlain’s longstanding record for consecutive games scoring 20 or more points, achieving a streak of 127 games after a 35-point victory over the Celtics. During this stretch, he averaged 32.5 points with a shooting percentage of 53.5% and delivered five 50-point games, hitting a career-high 55. The Thunder excelled with a 103-24 record during this period.
Last season, Gilgeous-Alexander maintained excellence, averaging 31.1 points, alongside career highs in assists, rebounds, and steals per game. His shooting statistics were impressive: 55.3% field goal percentage, 38.6% from three-point territory, and 87.9% from the free-throw line. Demonstrated versatility allows him to score effortlessly from varied positions; his ability to drive to the rim and execute efficient pull-up jumpers is noteworthy.
With no indicators of slowing, Gilgeous-Alexander continues to elevate the Thunder’s championship aspirations. Alongside teammates Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams, the team remains a formidable force.
