Late-Night Hosts Discuss Trump
During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” late-night hosts Seth Meyers and John Oliver shared their perspectives on dealing with President Donald Trump’s disdain. They considered Kimmel as their “bulletproof vest.” Oliver mentioned that Kimmel frequently comes up during comedy shows he hosts with Meyers.
“People often ask how it feels to be disliked by the president,” Oliver explained. “Seth and I always respond that as long as Kimmel’s on air, we’re fine.” Meyers agreed, saying, “You draw all the ire.”
Kimmel’s Influence
The hosts speculated on why Kimmel attracts attention from Trump. Meyers thought Trump might want to hang out with Kimmel despite any personal dislike. Meyers imitated Trump, suggesting the president might talk about Kimmel’s famous friends like Larry David and Conan O’Brien, and his great parties.
Kimmel noted Trump’s lack of anger towards Jon Stewart and occasional irritation with Meyers. He suggested Trump primarily watches major networks and likely doesn’t have HBO, which carries Oliver’s show.
“He definitely doesn’t have Comedy Central,” Kimmel joked. “He probably has no idea where to find it.”
White House’s Response
The conversation also included remarks from Seth Meyers about Trump’s viewing habits. Meyers observed that Trump sometimes tweets during his show, which airs late.
Davis Ingle, a White House spokesperson, responded to Fox News Digital by criticizing all three late-night hosts. Ingle described Meyers as “unfunny Marble Mouth” with “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Oliver was called a “pathetic moron,” and the White House previously labeled Kimmel a “no-talent loser.”
