A $20 photo tip with showgirls on the Las Vegas Strip led to a violent incident injuring two tourists. Jennifer Ortiz and Magdellena Romero were arrested following a fight near Planet Hollywood on September 30. The skirmish involved showgirls and tourists, according to reports.
Incident Details
The confrontation started when North Carolina tourists stopped for photos with three showgirl-costumed women. After paying $20, they walked away but were pursued by Ortiz, who demanded a higher payment between $60 and $180. Ortiz allegedly struck one tourist multiple times, even using her high-heeled boot to inflict a forehead cut.
Surveillance showed the tourist was hit over 22 times. Video footage depicted a chaotic scene with showgirls engaging in a physical fight with a man and a woman. At one point, a tourist’s face was visibly injured and his shirt served as a bandage.
Police Actions and Charges
The tourists received on-site medical attention but refused hospital care. They later requested legal action via written statements. Another visitor complained of unauthorized charges, showing he was billed $218 instead of the agreed $60. The phone number given for resolution was fake.
Ortiz claimed self-defense, stating she was attacked first, while Romero intervened to protect her friend. Ortiz faces battery and fraudulent charge accusations. Romero is charged with battery. Both were detained at the Clark County Detention Center.
Legal Proceedings
Ortiz was previously under a legal directive to avoid misconduct after a prior altercation. Both women are expected in court on December 3.
This incident highlights the potential dangers of tourist interactions on major city strips, emphasizing the need for caution and awareness.
