Addressing Alzheimer’s: An Urgent Necessity

2 hours ago 0

As members of Congress from different political parties, we often disagree on various issues. However, Alzheimer’s disease does not discriminate based on political alignment. It impacts families nationwide, in every state, congressional district, and neighborhood.

Currently, over 7 million people in the United States live with Alzheimer’s. In our two states alone, more than 1 million are affected. Projections indicate this figure could nearly double in the coming decades. Tackling the Alzheimer’s crisis is not optional. It is crucial.

Alzheimer’s disease not only affects those diagnosed but also places significant burdens on caregivers and the healthcare system. Families face emotional and financial challenges, and the disease strains healthcare resources. There is an urgent need to alter the course of this disease in America.

Both of us, despite our political differences, acknowledge the importance of addressing Alzheimer’s with urgency. Solutions require collaborative efforts across the political spectrum to support research, improve care, and provide resources to those affected.

The impact of Alzheimer’s transcends political boundaries, demanding immediate and comprehensive action. We urge our colleagues and the public to prioritize this health crisis and work towards meaningful solutions.
