President Donald Trump has launched an inquiry into Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. He established a ‘committee of inquiry’ to examine allegations that Cook made false statements on mortgage applications. A hearing is scheduled for November 5 at the White House, where Cook is required to answer questions from the committee, as stated in a memo by Trump.
This action comes after a Supreme Court decision in June that allowed Cook to maintain her position. The ruling emphasized that Cook should be given notice and the opportunity to respond to the allegations. Cook has denied any misconduct and faces no criminal charges.
