A suspect in Oklahoma managed a daring escape by diving headfirst through a closed window, surprising law enforcement officers. However, he left a critical clue that led to his capture.
The incident took place on October 1. Deputies from the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary at a vacant home on Sunset Lane. Bodycam footage from the deputies reveals how the event unfolded.
Rayven Lee Wooten, a 24-year-old from Nicoma Park, was found in the home allegedly trying to steal copper wire from a dishwasher. Deputies encountered Wooten inside the house and ordered him to remove his hands from his pockets, turn around, and kneel.
“You’re not listening,” the deputy warned. “Turn around and get on your knees. You will get shot.”
Instead of complying, Wooten sprinted around the kitchen and dove through a closed window. The deputy, surprised by the unexpected move, radioed the situation, “He just bailed out the window. He’s on foot.”
Although Wooten managed to escape initially, he left behind his backpack, which contained his driver’s license, making it easy for deputies to locate him later.
In a lighthearted note, the sheriff’s office commented that Wooten might have “missed his calling as a Hollywood stuntman,” referring to his dramatic window dive.
Viewers of the bodycam footage had varied reactions, noting both the deputy’s stunned response and the oversight that led to the suspect’s quick identification. One viewer remarked, “So he did all that, then left his identification behind lol.” Another pointed out the deputy’s “total disbelief” at the situation.
Rayven Lee Wooten faces charges of burglary, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer. The story highlights unique moments in law enforcement as well as the challenges officers face in the line of duty.
