Hilary Swank Announces Pregnancy with Third Child at 52

Hilary Swank has delighted fans with an unexpected revelation: she is expecting her third child at the age of 52. This comes after welcoming twins when she was 48. The ‘Million Dollar Baby’ actress and her family made the announcement via social media. They shared a video where they danced with glowsticks taped to their bodies, unveiling Swank’s baby bump. The video caption humorously stated, ‘A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next, this one releases in December.’

Swank, an Oscar winner, previously gave birth to twins, Aya and Ohm, three years ago with her husband Philip Schneider, who is also 52.

Dr. Kameelah Phillips, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, noted the rarity of pregnancy at this age, emphasizing the associated medical considerations. ‘Most women around this age are approaching menopause,’ she explained. ‘However, even with declining ovarian activity, the uterus can still carry a pregnancy with the help of IVF.’

Phillips further explained that Swank is likely under the care of a high-risk medical team. Risks for mothers in this age bracket include gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, diabetes, and a higher probability of needing a Caesarean section.

Swank previously discussed her motherhood journey on ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ following the birth of her twins. She reflected on being an older parent, highlighting how it allowed her to fully embrace motherhood. ‘Having the chance to fulfill my acting dreams first, I can now fully focus on my dream of being a mom without distractions,’ she expressed.
