Kyle Kennedy, the granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy, passed away at 42. She died on September 21 at her Massachusetts residence, as noted in an obituary by Burke Funeral Homes. Her cause of death is still under investigation, according to People.

Born in Washington, D.C., on July 6, 1984, Kennedy grew up in Cohasset, Massachusetts. She attended Milton Academy and obtained a bachelor’s degree in history from Georgetown University. She furthered her education with a Master of Science in Early Education from Pace University and a Master of Education in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Kennedy’s career began with Teach for America, serving in New York City public schools for two years. This experience ignited her commitment to early childhood education and reform. Throughout her career, she advocated for equitable elementary education and charter schools, worked with education technology firms on curriculum improvement, and served as an instructional coach for primary educators.

An enthusiastic athlete, Kennedy completed the Boston Marathon in 2019. However, in 2020, she sustained a severe spinal cord injury, resulting in long-term paralysis and health challenges. Following this, she advocated for disability rights, including testifying at the Massachusetts State House against healthcare discrimination for those with disabilities.

Kennedy’s father, Michael, passed away in 1997, and she also experienced the loss of her infant daughter, Josie. She is survived by her sons, Conor and Declan, her ex-husband Liam, her mother Victoria, her brother Michael, sister Rory, and their families.

Private funeral services were conducted. The family continues to mourn her passing and honor her legacy.
