The New York Giants were defeated by the New Orleans Saints with a score of 34-27 in their Week 6 matchup on Sunday. Shortly after this game, the Giants made a significant change to their roster.
According to Mike Garafolo from the NFL Network, the Giants have released linebacker Jihad Ward. This move came weeks after Ward was signed from the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad.
At 32 years old, Ward will now seek new opportunities following his release. In his brief tenure with the Giants this season, Ward appeared in two games and recorded a solo tackle. Previously with the Tennessee Titans, he recorded five sacks and 31 combined tackles in 17 games last season.
Ward, an 11-year NFL veteran, might attract teams in need of experience and depth. Over his 138-game NFL career, the 6-foot-5 linebacker has achieved 24 sacks and 200 combined tackles.
