Vice President JD Vance has decided not to endorse Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reelection bid. Vance has made it clear he plans to remain uninvolved in Israel’s election, focusing instead on U.S. political matters. President Donald Trump has publicly supported Netanyahu, showcasing contrasting approaches within the administration.
During an interview with Mark Halperin on “2WAY Tonight,” Vance emphasized his focus on American candidates as the midterms approach. He stated, “The president has the most effective endorsement in American or international political history. I endorse American candidates, and that’s where I’m focused on in the midterms. So I’m not getting involved in Israeli elections.” He clarified that his decision is neither a rejection nor support of Netanyahu, stating, “I’m not anti-endorsing him. I’m not pro-endorsing him.”
These remarks follow Trump’s “Complete and Total Endorsement” of Netanyahu, praising him as a crucial U.S. ally against Iran. In a Truth Social post, Trump declared, “Bibi Netanyahu has been a Great Warrior Prime Minister, and an even greater Partner for Peace in combatting the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
“Please let this Letter serve to represent my Complete and Total Endorsement of Bibi Netanyahu in his upcoming Race for Re-Election as Prime Minister of Israel. BIBI NETANYAHU WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” said Trump.
Netanyahu welcomed Trump’s support, expressing gratitude by highlighting the alliance’s strength in preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear arms. “President Trump, my friend Donald — thank you for your extraordinary endorsement,” Netanyahu stated, underscoring Israel’s friendship with the White House. “Together we will never let Iran’s regime get nuclear weapons.”
Vance’s stance comes after he participated in campaigning for Hungary’s former Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who later lost his reelection bid. This involvement earlier this year contrasts with his current decision regarding Israel.
The White House has not commented on Vance’s decision to abstain from Israeli electoral endorsements. Sophia Compton, a writer at Fox News Digital, reports on these developments and has a background in business reporting and television production.
