The People First Transportation Alliance recently claimed it has 13 ‘founding members.’ However, four individuals or groups dispute this claim. They do not agree with being labeled as founding members.
On October 6, a truck supporting Waymo parked in front of the John A. Wilson Building. The event took place as protests against a bill to legalize the commercial operation of robotaxis in the District intensified.
A significant number of union leaders, ride-hailing drivers, and other protestors assembled at D.C.’s historic city hall. Their opposition focused on a proposed bill that could pave the way for driverless cars.
“Robotaxis don’t vote; we vote!” they chanted.
The demonstrators aimed to prevent the legalization of commercial autonomous vehicles within the District. Their collective voice sought to influence the future of transportation legislation.
