IndyCar rookie Caio Collet experienced a frightening crash during the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred as Felix Rosenqvist and Pato O’Ward were battling for the lead.
Collet lost control in Turn 2 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He overcorrected, causing his car to collide with the wall. The car’s right rear ignited as it skidded down the track onto the grass.

Emergency crews quickly responded, extinguishing the fire and assisting Collet from the vehicle. Thankfully, Collet was able to walk away from the crash, but race officials paused the event with a red flag, allowing drivers a break before the final laps.

As a result of the crash, Collet did not finish the race, impacting his position in the standings. This was his first appearance in the Indy 500, coming off a successful run in the Indy NXT Series, where he finished second and won three races in 2025.
In the IndyCar standings, Collet entered the race in 21st place with 70 points from six starts. He has yet to achieve a top 10 finish in his debut season. The competition concluded with Felix Rosenqvist winning on the final lap, marking the event as one of the most competitive with over 50 lead changes.
