CBS News has uncovered that the sailboat used by Brian and Lynette Hooker in their Bahamas journey was equipped with an infrared camera. This camera, manufactured by FLIR, can detect heat radiation and operate with a cloud memory system. This feature might contain crucial evidence in the ongoing search for Lynette Hooker.
On April 5, Brian Hooker informed local authorities about Lynette’s disappearance, reporting that she fell overboard during a nighttime dinghy ride. The ‘Soulmate,’ their sailboat, was confiscated by the U.S. Coast Guard earlier in the current month. Sources indicate that while it’s unclear if Brian Hooker utilized the camera, it is under examination as part of the investigation.
Infrared cameras such as these are frequently employed by boaters. They enhance navigation safety by detecting potential dangers or persons falling overboard, particularly in the dark. Fox News reported the camera’s existence first.
Daniel Danforth, a friend of the Hookers, recounted to CBS News that Brian proudly demonstrated the device in New Orleans in March 2023. Currently, the Coast Guard Investigative Services is actively probing Lynette’s disappearance. Brian Hooker has maintained his innocence, faced no charges, and was questioned in the Bahamas before being released and returning to the U.S.
