Democratic Senate nominee Sherrod Brown is currently leading Republican incumbent Senator Jon Husted by 8 points in Ohio, according to a new Fox News poll released Wednesday. Brown, a three-term senator, seeks a return to Washington after being defeated by Republican Bernie Moreno in 2024. He will face off against Husted, who took office in January 2025 after JD Vance became vice president.
The poll indicates that Brown has the support of 53 percent of registered Ohio voters, while Husted has 45 percent. Newsweek has reached out to both candidates’ campaigns for comments.
Key Information
Both Brown and Husted secured their nominations in the recent state primary election. The Fox News poll highlights that Husted has a favorability rating of 41 percent, with a 50 percent unfavorable rating. Meanwhile, Brown enjoys a favorability of 53 percent, opposed by 44 percent.
Former President Donald Trump has a favorability rating of 42 percent in the poll and an unfavorable score of 57 percent. This marks a significant change from a November 2024 poll, which recorded Trump’s favorability at 52 percent against 46 percent unfavorable.
The poll was conducted from May 28 to June 1, surveying 1,015 registered voters in Ohio, with a 3 percent margin of error.
Brown has garnered 98 percent support from Democrats, while Husted has 86 percent backing from Republicans. Additionally, 13 percent of Republicans support Brown, compared to 2 percent of Democrats supporting Husted. The Cook Political Report has classified the Ohio Senate race as a “toss-up,” alongside those in Maine and Michigan.
Recently, Husted and Brown have clashed over social media. Husted’s campaign criticized Brown’s long tenure in politics, implying a lack of accomplishments. Brown, on the other hand, accused Husted of failing to address affordability issues in Ohio.

Last month, a NetChoice survey by Echelon Insights reported Husted with 51 percent against Brown’s 45 percent. This survey consisted of 413 Ohio voters from April 3 to April 9 and presented a margin of error of 5.8 percent.
