Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson has declared his retirement from football. His wife, Ciara, reacted emotionally to the news. Ciara, both a singer and songwriter, has been married to Wilson for almost ten years. Reflecting on their shared journey, she expressed her feelings on social media.

“The best in the world! There’s only one, 3!” she posted in response to his announcement. Her message continued, “Always so proud of you! It’s a true blessing to go on this journey with you! My greatest inspiration! I love you so much!”

The couple has four children together, with Ciara’s eldest, Future, born from her previous relationship with rapper Future. Wilson will transition into a new role as an analyst with CBS Sports. In his retirement video, he said, “As I enter this next chapter with CBS Sports and ‘The NFL Today,’ I’m so blessed to continue doing what I love most – being around the greatest game in the world.”

In his message, Wilson thanked his family, especially Ciara, for their support. He stated, “Thank you, C. I thank you, Ciara, for being my greatest blessing, my best friend, and my partner through it all. None of this journey called life would have been the same without you.”

Wilson’s NFL career began when he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played ten seasons there, leading the team to a Super Bowl victory against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.

The Seahawks later traded him to the Broncos. However, his performance with Denver was not as successful. After being released by the Broncos, Wilson played briefly for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants before retiring.

In 14 seasons, Wilson achieved a career record of 121-80-1. He completed 64.6% of his passes, accumulating 46,966 yards with 353 touchdowns and 114 interceptions. His extensive NFL experience will now contribute to his new role at CBS Sports.
