When Michael Jordan revealed his NBA return in 1995, he merely stated, “I’m back.” Today, announcements have evolved significantly. Aaron Donald used a comprehensive video on Instagram to declare his return to the NFL on Sunday.
Return from Retirement
Donald, now 35, is coming back to the Los Angeles Rams after retiring in 2024 and 2025. His wife, Erica Donald, humorously shared her reaction, “I let him out the house y’all,” offering an instant response not possible in 1995.
Donald posted, “We back,” echoing Jordan’s famous words. He agreed to a one-year deal valued at $20 million, with potential earnings up to $30 million for 2026. During his previous NFL tenure, Donald was renowned as one of the best defensive players.
He has undergone two official “tryouts” with the Rams and has been rigorously training with personal trainers for six weeks. Donald adjusted his diet to support his comeback.
Donald aims to reclaim his top form and help the Rams secure a Super Bowl victory.
Rams’ Ambitious Goals
A significant factor in Donald’s return is the Rams’ commitment to pursuing a Super Bowl win this season. The team signed Myles Garrett, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, in June, forming a potentially formidable defensive line alongside Donald.
The Rams also strengthened their roster with cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. McDuffie, recognized as a Pro Bowl-caliber player, enhances their defense for 2026.
Push for Victory
Quarterback Matthew Stafford, the reigning NFL MVP, leads the Rams. The team aims to triumph after falling short in the NFC Championship game against the Seattle Seahawks last season.
The Rams’ impressive offseason moves, including the additions of Garrett, McDuffie, and Watson, illustrate their determination to succeed in the upcoming season.
