Every visual in Dreams of Violets was created using generative artificial intelligence. This innovative approach allowed the filmmakers to produce a compelling narrative without traditional film equipment. The entire production was conducted from a London apartment, without actors, sets, or cameras.

Producer Ash Koosha, who originates from Iran, collaborated with his brother Pooya Koosha on this 75-minute feature. The film depicts chaotic scenes, including armed officers and burning streets, all observed by a child. These dramatic sequences were rendered digitally, representing a new frontier in storytelling.

Inspiration Behind the Film

The filmmakers were inspired to create the movie after an internet blackout in Tehran during a violent government crackdown in January. Ash Koosha, who left Iran in 2009, understood that the full scope of the events might never be captured by traditional means. Hence, they turned to technology to relay the story. He described the film as a memorial during a time when traditional journalism couldn’t operate effectively.

The script was penned by Ash Koosha, emphasizing the urgent need for storytelling in times of crisis. He noted that speed is crucial as journalists and humanitarian organizations strive to report and document events quickly.
