1 month ago 0

An airport worker lost their life following a tragic accident involving a passenger jet at YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport in Quebec, Canada. The incident occurred on Monday and involved an Airbus A350 operated by the low-cost airline French Bee, as reported by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB).

The worker, employed by ground-handling company Samsic, was struck by the plane during ground operations before the departure of Flight BF5761 to Paris-Orly. The airline confirmed the accident took place during the aircraft’s pushback operation; however, the detailed circumstances are still under investigation.

“The airline extends its deepest condolences to the individual’s family and loved ones as well as its support to colleagues and all teams affected by this event,” a spokesperson stated.

French Bee is working closely with Canadian authorities, offering all necessary assistance for the investigation. Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) expressed deep sorrow over losing a community member, emphasizing the collective impact felt across the airport.

Yves Beauchamp, president and CEO of ADM, shared heartfelt condolences with the victim’s family and colleagues. ADM is cooperating with investigating authorities and providing support to those who witnessed the tragedy.

The Quebec coroner’s office is investigating the death’s causes and circumstances. ADM refrained from further comments, respecting the victim’s privacy and referring media inquiries to the investigation leaders.

This incident follows two similar fatal events at North American airports earlier in the year. A Delta Air Lines employee was killed when an airport tug vehicle hit a jet bridge at Orlando International Airport. Around the same time, a person was fatally struck by a Frontier Airlines jet on a runway at Denver International Airport.
