A tragic accident occurred at Miami International Airport, resulting in the loss of five lives. The incident happened when an Amazon cargo jet ran off the runway as it attempted to land on Sunday afternoon. The aircraft overran the runway, collided with a van used for transporting cleaning personnel to planes, breached a fence, and finally crashed into a local street, destroying an SUV in the process.
Authorities reported that the five victims were inside the van at the time of the collision. In total, five people sustained injuries, including the pilot and co-pilot, who have been discharged from the hospital. However, two individuals remain in critical condition, while a third has stabilized. Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz provided these updates, noting that the ages of the deceased ranged from 47 to 75.
