Babe Ruth’s legacy in baseball has stood the test of time. However, Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs recently suggested a surprising viewpoint. During an appearance on Kristin Cavallari’s podcast “Let’s Be Honest,” alongside fellow Cub Carson Kelly, Crow-Armstrong shared an unexpected opinion.

“Babe Ruth never existed” was the bold claim Crow-Armstrong made. He referenced a Mariners pitcher’s podcast where Ruth’s existence was questioned due to the scarcity of video footage. Crow-Armstrong found this idea intriguing.

Brandon Contes of Awful Announcing tracked down the source of Crow-Armstrong’s reference. The podcast involved Mariners pitcher Tayler Saucedo, who suggested that the lack of video evidence made Ruth’s existence questionable.

Crow-Armstrong wasn’t relying solely on the lack of videos. He explained his perspective by reflecting on the evolution of baseball over the years. “People might as well have been underhanding the ball to that guy,” he remarked, indicating how the game has changed. This led him to speculate whether Ruth ever existed.

Kelly laughed, expressing disbelief at Crow-Armstrong’s theory. When the conversation veered towards comparing it to moon landing conspiracies, the topic quickly changed.

Ruth isn’t around to respond to these claims. However, Crow-Armstrong’s other comments have drawn attention, such as his criticism of Dodgers fans, who booed him during a game in Los Angeles. He later explained to Maddie Lee of the Los Angeles Times, saying, “If we’re going to be immature and childish about it, I’d say they started it, they just gave me an opportunity to kind of run with it.”
