The Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens seemed destined for overtime in Rio de Janeiro after Brandon Aubrey’s game-tying kick late in the fourth quarter. However, the Ravens had other plans.
With the clock showing seven seconds left, Lamar Jackson completed a 27-yard pass to Zay Flowers. They quickly called a timeout with one second on the clock. Tyler Loop then successfully nailed a 56-yard field goal, securing a stunning 34-31 victory for the Ravens.
Rex Ryan, an NFL analyst, sharply criticized the Cowboys’ defense following their breakdown. “I can’t let Dallas off the hook like this,” Ryan stated. “They’re still the worst two-minute defense in the National Football League, by far. They don’t know how to finish a game. They stink.”
Quarterback Dak Prescott of the Cowboys assumed responsibility for the loss, redirecting pressure away from the defense. “Frustrated,” Prescott expressed on the team’s official website. “Frustrated as hell. Excuse me. Embarrassed. We don’t call ourselves the best offense, GOTI, and get down to the one-yard line and fail to score. It’s disappointing. Not much to say to explain it fully.”
He added, “The defense shouldn’t have been in that situation. Those guys were saying ‘it’s on us,’ but it absolutely isn’t. We have to secure the win, period.”
The Cowboys, now holding a 1-2 record, are set to play against the Houston Texans in Week 4.
