Brush Fire Erupts in La Habra Heights, Evacuations Ordered

A brush fire has ignited in the hills surrounding La Habra Heights, destroying a structure and threatening others. This situation has prompted evacuations in the area.

The blaze, known as the Palos fire, started shortly after 2:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of Las Palomas Drive in Whittier. The Los Angeles County Fire Department reported this activity. By 4 p.m., the fire had spread across approximately 12 acres, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Authorities have issued an evacuation warning for nearby neighborhoods. These include various streets in La Habra Heights, as crews strive to control the fire.

Footage aired on KTTV Monday afternoon showed at least one building engulfed in flames.

The evacuation area is roughly outlined by Puenta del Este Drive and Hacienda Road to the east. It also includes Casalero Drive, Lupin Hill Road, and Las Palomas Drive to the west. To the north, Windrush and Gun Tree drives are affected, and to the south, Encanada Drive marks the boundary. This zone encompasses part of the Puente Hills Preserve and includes the Hsi Lai Temple to the east and certain businesses at Colima Road and South Hacienda Boulevard.
